There is no such thing as overcommunication! Keep in close contact with every single vendor leading up to your wedding date, particularly your venue. Be sure to ask plenty of questions and lock in all the details before your big day to make sure there aren’t any unplanned bumps in the road!
Some big questions are:
- What number of guests are allowed?
- Do you require masks?
- Are there areas of the venue that do not require masks?
- Is there a curfew?
- What extra precautions are you taking to keep guests safe?
- Are there any extra requirements that we should know about?
Be sure that you’ve spoken with your event planner as well to ensure that all the details are ironed out well in advance. If, for some reason, restrictions change, be sure to check in again!
Plan Out Your Non-Negotiables
What HAS to be there for your big day to be perfect? Is it your entire guest list? Your perfect luxury destination? The perfect little details? Talk with your partner, talk with your event planner, talk with your travel agent. Figure out exactly what you need and plan around that!
If your destination is more flexible, look for more remote locations with fewer recent cases that may have fewer restrictions. Want to have a big crowd? Maybe check out an outdoor venue! Have high-risk family members? Consider a virtual ceremony for those who can’t make it! There are so many beautiful locations for a destination wedding and so many creative solutions to day-of problems, don’t limit yourself, but do make sure that your expectations have to fit within what is possible right now if you’re not willing to postpone your date.
Know Your Cancellation Policies
While you should have already spoken with your vendors about cancellation policies, make sure you’re on the same page about cancellations due to COVID. Check CDC’s and WHO’s sites often so that you know of any changes and can talk with your vendors in the event of a change.
Do your vendors allow for date changes? If not, are there options for reimbursement? Be sure to keep them in the loop if there are any changes to your plans. You should also highly consider CFAR (Cancel for any reason) insurance.
