Golf and Cricket

Thanks to Bermuda’s temperate sub-tropical climate, it is host to many of the world’s best sporting events year-round, including the PGA Tour Bermuda Championship, being held October 20th – October 23rd, 2022.
The biggest event of the nation is the Cup Match Cricket Festival in July, which has been a national 2-day holiday in Bermuda since 1940. It coincides with two other major national holidays, Emancipation Day (freedom from slavery) and Somers Day (celebrating the English settlement of the island).  There is a popular running and a rafting event this weekend, as well.

Runners On Your Mark ...

If long-distance competitive running is your passion, and you want to see much of this gorgeous island on foot, the Royal Gazette Bermuda Triangle Challenge is January 14-16, 2023.
Runners had this to say about this event, which includes a 1-mile, a half-marathon, and a full marathon.
“Well organized”
“Hills were a challenge, but the scenery more than made up for that!”
“It felt like you were running with friends.”
“This event had a great vibe and I would do it again in a heartbeat!”
“The support from the locals was really fun (including the rum stops).”
Combine running with obstacle courses in the 3-day Bermuda Triple Challenge, held every March.

Is Angling more your game? Perhaps you like to reel in the big ones for hefty cash purses? In July you can compete in the Bermuda Triple Crown Billfish Championship, a trio of deep-sea fishing tournaments over 3 days. Of course, there are plenty of fish in the sea, including marlin, swordfish, and sailfish in addition to wahoo, tuna and mahi-mahi, if you want to charter a boat any time of year.  We’ll make sure your captain will help you find the best hidden fishing spots in Bermuda!

Prefer more of a contact sport? It doesn’t get more gritty than a good rugby match, and Bermuda hosts the World Rugby Classic. Professional rugby alumni from around the world come to compete against Bermudians. There are even opportunities to shoot the boot or (more likely) sip on a swizzle with some of these all-star ruggers.

If you want to see a sailing competition that attracts the world’s best sailors, come to Bermuda. April and May experience International Race Week, a premier event for yachting enthusiasts.  The oldest regularly scheduled ocean race, the Newport Bermuda Race, occurs annually in June. Bermuda has also been the destination for a number of other world-class sailing events, including the America’s Cup (2017). Like speed? Experience the Viper North American Race to see the catamarans compete in this North American Championship.

The Bermuda Sail Grand Prix presented by Hamilton Princess returns to Bermuda May 14-15, 2022. The thrilling, high stakes SailGP kickoff event featuring the world's fastest F50 Catamarans takes place in Bermuda's stunning Great Sound. Watch the races live via Facebook, YouTube and through the SailGP App.

Kiteboarding is very popular to watch and experience in Bermuda, and it may be the best way to explore the majestic rock formations and architecturally magnificent shores. Professional kiteboarders love that the breeze seems to come from all directions, making it very easy to navigate.

Tennis lovers, of course, would never want to go anywhere there isn’t tennis, so let’s reassure you: we will make sure that you stay in close proximity and have access to the best courts!

If sports are the way you prefer to experience your journey, schedule a consultation now and we’ll make sure that you have nothing but your game to worry about.
